My name is Mack and I was saved just in the nick of time from a shelter in TN. I was loved by the nice shelter girls, so much so, that even tho I was given up by my owner, they kept me for a whole month! I do not realize that being 52 lb's means that I should not be a lap dog. I love laps!!! Right now my roommates are a cat and a female pittie who is so smart and loves me and forgives my teen-aged self-centered attention and food and treat hogging. She also shows me all kinds of important doggie stuff, like where to pee and poop (outside!) and not to run away from my human roommate, even when I am not on the leash. She also shows me what to chew on and more importantly, what NOT to chew on! I get really really sad when my human gets upset with me. This and how much I LOVE treats has made me very very easy to train. I try very very hard to get praise and not to get in trouble. I know lots of neat new stuff, like come, sit, shake (gimme 5!), down, and wait. I'm working on "leave it" and "stay." I'm in doggie school with Susan Marrett every Monday night. Boy, do I ever get SOOOOO excited when I see other dogs and I can't go meet them! I just want to say hey (and put my big feet on their back and mount them and stuff). What's the big deal, I wonder? My tail is waggy and my face looks friendly and I sing a very happy song, but it does not make my human very happy at all!
When I am at home, I am totally a type-B personality. I would rather not fetch over and over. I just wait for my friend to fetch (she really really LOVES fetching), then . . . AMBUSH!!!! If I get this fetched item, I'm usually off to a quiet place to lie down and chew on it. I like to sleep, watch stuff, sleep, lay on my human's lap, bed, couch, sleep, or what have you. I am very quiet and non-destructive. I am great in the crate, but lately I've been earning getting to have free run of my whole bedroom when my human is gone to work. Turns out, I am a very confident boy, so I don't chew on bedding, carpet, shoe moulding, shoes, or furniture!!!! I just wait patiently for my human to come home. I've learned these things from my human and pittie roomies. I also learned not to nibble or jump! I'm so great, my human is going to have a hard time letting me go, and she says it will have to be a very special someone who is good enough for me!!! Oh, yeah! Did I forget to mention that I also live with a cat? She hisses that I am totally obnoxious, but I don't really care what she thinks. Sometimes she hurts my nose (which is often sticking in where it does not belong!), but I don't do anything back to her. One time my human did not close my crate all the way and I got out, but the kitty was sleeping in her little bed all safe and sound upon her return! I am very calm, even lazy! And the other great part? I am so good-looking I can hardly stand myself! Everywhere I go, people say how handsome I am. They say stuff like, "Now that is one good-looking dog!" I try not to let this go to my (pretty) head. This brings me to: I LOVE to go in the car!!!!!!! Plus I never throw up in the car. Yay!! My human says that once I'm not a teenager any more, I'll be even better, See, I'm all these things, but I'm only a year old. I am so so so so so so sweet and affectionate; I really love to be loved on, even more than my sweet pittie girlfriend. Anyone who is interested in me, please contact me or scpitrescue.org. An adoption app must be completed and a home visit performed. I am neutered and microchipped!
